AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE POLICE OFFICERS TRAINING FUND (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-87:1438 ON AUGUST 3, 1987; ORD-92:942 ON MARCH 16, 1992)

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
Section 1: The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas hereby established an Educational Fund for training the officers of the Jonesboro Police Department.
 
Section 2: That in order to provide for such training an additional charge of $2.00 shall be levied in Traffic and Criminal Violations and said levy shall constitute an item of the Court Costs.
 
Section 3: All sums of money collected by the Municipal Court Clerk as a result of the additional $2.00 charge shall be placed in the General Revenue Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to be used only for Educational Purposes Training and Equipment of the Jonesboro Police Department.
 
Section 4: It is hereby found by the City Council that there is an increasing need for Training and Equipment in the Jonesboro Police Department. It is further found that the better a police department is equipped and the better it is trained the more efficient it becomes. The City Council further finds that meeting this need would help to further insure the health safety and welfare of the Citizens of Jonesboro, Therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
 
PASSED and ADOPTED this 21st day of December, 1981.
