The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met in regular session on Thursday, April 12, 1973 in the Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Mr. Aubrey Scott, Jr. Mr. Tom Mardis, a newly appointed commission member was recognized.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Scott, Adams, Young, Morrison, Roddy, Matthews, Mardis, and Haggenmacher.

MEMBERS ABSENT: Cooper.

OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. Larry Fugate, Mr. Bill Bell, Mr. Joe Tomlinson, and Mrs. Shirley Watkins.

Items for business were as follows:

Item #1. Cathedral Baptist Church requests approval of a rezoning R-1 to C-5 of the Cathedral Baptist Church Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas. This property is located just northeast of the intersection of Wood Street and the Highway 63 Bypass. A motion was made by Mr. Morrison and seconded by Mr. Haggenmacher to APPROVE the request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.

Item #2. Bruce Burrow requests a rezoning from R-1 to C-3 of the following property: the west 346 feet of the south 210 feet of Lot 3 of Cobb and Lee’s Survey of the Northwest Quarter of Section 21, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, being the property known as the northeast corner of Stallings Lane and Caraway Road, 190 feet x 316 feet. A motion was made by Mr. Mardis and seconded by Mr. Roddy to APPROVE the request subject to the approval of a satisfactory barrier being placed between the R-2 properties. A vote was taken. The vote was YEA: Adams, Young, Morrison, Roddy, Matthews, and Mardis. PASS: Haggenmacher. The motion to approve the request was passed.

Item #3. L and C, Inc. request a rezoning from R-1 to I-1 of Service Park Addition to Jonesboro, Arkansas. This property is located immediately off Willow Road just south of Whitman’s Creek. A motion was made by Mr. Young and seconded by Mr. Morrison to APPROVE the request. A vote was taken and the motion was passed unanimously.
