AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1434, ARTICLE 2, LICENSING OF ELECTRICIANS, CONTRACTORS, ETC. AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES:

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that Ordinance No. 1434 be amended as follows:

Section 1: All master electricians doing business in the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, as a licensed electrical contractor shall file with the City Clerk a bond in the penal sum of $10,000.00 with an incorporated insurance company authorized to do business in the City as surety, which bond and surety shall be approved by the City Clerk. The Condition of such bond shall be that the principal and surety shall indemnify the City of Jonesboro for its own use and/or to any citizen against loss by improper electrical work; and the principal shall strictly comply with the ordinances of the City governing such work. The principal shall do or suffer no work to be done without a permit and will report work done for inspection to the Electrical Inspector and conform to the laws of the City of Jonesboro and State of Arkansas. The bond shall be renewed each year, not later than January 31. The provision increasing the bond to $10,000.00 shall become effective January 1, 1978.

Section 2: No master electrician shall be allowed to establish a business or obtain electrical permits without first having been licensed in the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, subject, however, to the permit provision contained in paragraph 5 of this ordinance. No master electrician or electrical contractor shall permit any person other than his employees to use his license and/or permits.

Section 3: Every person desiring to engage in any kind of electrical work or business as hereinafter defined shall, before engaging in such business procure a license from the Electrical Board by passing the Electrical Board exam, subject, however, to the permit provisions contained in paragraph 5 of this ordinance.
