AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF THE CITY ATTORNEY

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
The City Attorney shall perform the following duties:
Section 1: Attend all regular, special and called meetings of the Jonesboro City Council. He shall act as the legal advisor to the Mayor, members of the City Council, the Police and Fire Departments, City Clerk, City Treasurer and in interpreting city ordinances, resolutions and statutes.
Section 2: Prosecute violations of City Ordinances and the City’s criminal docket in Jonesboro municipal court and appeals there-from.
Section 3: The City Attorney shall prepare all ordinances, resolutions, deeds, and contracts as directed by the Mayor or City Council.
Section 4: All ordinance and/or parcel ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5: Should any portion of this ordinance be unconstitutional or invalid and so declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction, then the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected by such partial invalidity.
Section 6: It is found and declared by the City Council that this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and emergencies hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
