AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING ROGERS STREET AS A TRUCK ROUTE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of this Ordinance, Rogers Street from Aggie Road North to Highway 1, shall be designated as a “truck route”.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the property appropriate signs reading “Truck Route” on each side of Rogers Street from Aggie Road North to Highway 1, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs.

 

Section 3: It s found and declared by the City Council that due to the great congestion of traffic on Aggie Road through the heart of Arkansas State College that the travel of trucks through the college area creates and causes a traffic problem and hazards resulting in injuries to persons or property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

                     PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of February, 1966.
