SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING, JANUARY 12, 1984
The Jonesboro City Council met in special session, Thursday, January 12, 1984, at 2:00 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney, and all aldermen except: Mr. Henson, Mr. Bridger, Dr. Smith, & Mr. Nix.
After discussion between the City Attorney and the Council, Mr. Hannah moved, seconded by Mr. Province, to not appeal the case of the Nora Hopkins discrimination suit. All voted aye.
Mr. Hannah moved, seconded by Mr. Park, to allow the City Attorney to further negotiate with Ms. Hopkins’ attorneys on the fees the City is liable for. If Ms. Henson and Ms. Hopkins’ attorneys cannot reach a figure of less than the stated $20,000, then the motion would include to have the Judge for the case intervene and set the fees. All voted aye.
There being no further business, council adjourned.
