AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 3450 ADOPTING THE 2004 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO.

WHEREAS, an elected official’s wage study was conducted and has shown that the Jonesboro City Clerk’s position is paid incorrectly according to duties performed and salaries of like cities;

WHEREAS, all non elected employees were surveyed and received position salary adjustments on January 1, 2004;

WHEREAS, the Finance and Administration Committee has reviewed the elected official’s wage study and recommends increasing the position of City Clerk to $47,000 annually, retroactive to January 1, 2004;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas,

SECTION 1: The 2004 City of Jonesboro annual budget be amended by the appropriation of $3,959.72 from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to increase the City Clerk’s annual salary to $47,000.

SECTION 2: This ordinance being necessary to correct the current salary as of January 1, 2004, there is hereby declared to be an emergency and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
