AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN STREETS AND ROADS WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: From and after passage of this Ordinance, the maximum speed limits on the following streets shall be as follows:

(A) The speed limit on wood Street shall be 25 MPH from College and Culberhouse to the 63 By-Pass;
(B) The speed limit on Loberg Lane shall be 20 MPH;
(C) The speed limit on Neely Road shall be 30 MPH;
(D) The speed limit on Scott Street shall be 20 MPH;
(E) The speed limit on Culberhouse shall be 30 MPH from West College to Southwest Drive;
(F) The speed limit on Culberhouse shall be 30 MPH from Rains to Franklin and 30 MPH on the rest and remainder of Wilkins Street;
(G) The speed limit on North Main St. shall be 25 MPH from Forrest St. to Center St.:
(H) The speed limit on North Allis Street shall be 20 MPH from Johnson to Belt;
(I) The speed limit on Race Street shall be 30 MPH from Young to Creek;

Section 2: The Chief of Police, or some person designated by him, is directed to place and locate upon the above described streets, appropriate signs at the appropriate places, with the designated speed limits posted upon said signs, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs.

Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).

Section 4: All ordinance and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 5: It is found and declared that the absence of proper speed limits is a menace to the citizens and residents of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and that speed limits are necessary in order to insure the safety and well-being of the citizens of Jonesboro, Arkansas; therefore, this ordinance being ne...
