RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AWARD OF A CONTRACT SUBJECT TO ACTION BY THE AIRPORT COMMISSION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS

WHEREAS, pursuant to directions of the City Council and to laws, ordinances and resolutions the City Council of Jonesboro has heretofore designated the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission to do all things related to management of the Jonesboro Municipal Airport and construction of improvements thereon, including resurfacing of runways, taxiways and aprons and the City has provided for the financing thereof; and
WHEREAS, said Airport Commission in accordance with the powers heretofore established in it by action of the City Council has advertised for and received bids for construction of airport improvements consisting of resurfacing runways, taxiways, apron and new construction and other improvements thereon and that at the public opening of bids at 2:00 p.m. on September 28, 1972, as advertised and according to law, the low bidder was found to be Barnett Construction Co. of Jonesboro with a low bid of $177,282.69, which bid is subject to approval by the Airport Commission of the City of Jonesboro and subject to approval by the FAA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Jonesboro, Ark., approve award of contract based on above low bid and subject to action by the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission and declare that the same is within the power and jurisdiction of said Commission according to ordinances and resolutions heretofore adopted by the City Council and subject to approval of the FAA the Airport Commission is authorized to bind the City of Jonesboro to a construction contract in accord with plans and specifications and said bid.
