RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CITY OF JONESBORO EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK CONCERNING HOLIDAYS FOR NON-UNIFORM EMPLOYEES

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has adopted an Employee Handbook by resolution, and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro's Employee Handbook establishes in Section 2, a list of 7 holidays which include:

 

New Year's Day

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Thanksgiving Day

Christmas Day

Employee's Birthday

 

which Non-Civil Service, full-time employees may take off with pay, and

 

WHEREAS, the Non-Civil Service, full-time employees of the City of Jonesboro have expressed a desire to exchange the Employee's Birthday with the Friday immediately following Thanksgiving as a holiday which eligible employees may take off with pay, and

 

WHEREAS, the Friday immediately following Thanksgiving will become one of the 7 holidays which eligible employees may take off with pay immediately upon adoption of this resolution, the provision eliminating the Employee's Birthday as  a holiday will not take effect until January 1, 1998.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro that, Section 2 of the Employee Handbook shall list the following 7 holidays that eligible, full-time employees may take off with pay, as:

 

New Year's Day

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Thanksgiving Day

The Friday Immediately Following Thanksgiving

Christmas Day
