DISCUSSION HELD REGARDING BULKY WASTE ORDINANCE
Mr. Don Bridger addressed the Public Services Committee regarding the direction the sanitation ad hoc committee should take in the development of a bulky waste ordinance. He was told that the citizen’s ad hoc committee was formed for the purpose of making recommendations to the Public Services Committee. Mayor Brodell suggested he have each member put in writing their ideas and compile a list that was acceptable with the majority of the group. Councilman Roddy contended if services were to be provided then program must be funded adequately. The issue of responsibility falling on the tenant, landlord, or the city was the subject most discussed but without much resolution. Mr. Bridger stated it would be helpful if the Public Services Committee could offer direction as to expand, eliminate, or provide limited services regarding bulky waste. Everyone agreed that limited services was needed, with Councilman Hargis suggesting they set a standard for acceptable city life and place an emphasis on what the city will do, not what the city won’t do.
With no further business, Councilman Hargis moved, seconded by Councilman Roddy to adjourn. All voted aye.
