The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met Tuesday, November 28, 1989 at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 2nd Floor, 314 W. Washington, Jonesboro Arkansas to consider the following item:
Item #1 AZ89-4 Don Mixon, representing certain property owners located on a part of Section 9, T14N and R3E, requested approval of annexation and zoning classifications of R-1 for 39.86 acres and C-3 for 109.54 acres. This area is located on the northeast and northwest corners of Hwy. 63B and U.S. Hwy. 63.
Mr. Vance made a motion to approve this request stating that it would help to square up the city limits and eliminate some properties that were split by the large annexation. This approval is subject to Parcel #3 (Walpole property) being changed from a C-3 classification to a C-4 classification. Mr. Lamberth seconded the motion. Voting was 5 in favor, 0 opposed. REQUEST APPROVED WITH STIPULATIONS.
In other business Mr. Vance made a motion that the City’s staff not accept any more annexations until the Commission is given a clear signal from the City Council as to what their intentions are as far as considering new annexations. The motion was seconded by Mr. Sloan. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
