AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF SPORLAR AVENUE A/K/A COOK STREET RUNNING EAST AND WEST BETWEEN CARTWRIGHT STREET AND MADISON STREET

NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that:
 
Section 1: The City Council finds that Sporlar Avenue, a/k/a Cook Street running east and west between Cartwright Street and Madison Street has never been opened to the public.
 
Section 2: The City Council finds that Sporlar Avenue, a/k/a Cook Street running east and west between Cartwright Street and Madison Street is not needed for public purpose now or in the foreseeable future.
 
Section 3: The City Council pursuant to Arkansas Stat. Ann. ยง19-2304 (Repl.1980) abandons and vacated Sporlar Avenue, a/k/a Cook Street between Cartwright Street and Madison Street and such property shall inure to the abutting property owners to the centerline of Sporlar Avenue, a/k/a Cook Street, as recorded in deed record 48 page 212.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas does vacate and abandon Sporlar Avenue, a/k/a Cook Street running east and west between Cartwright Street and Madison Street and further, the City Council finds that an emergency exists and this ordinance is necessary for the protection and promotion of the public health, welfare and safety, that this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
