Title

AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE FORMAL BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF MICROSOFT LICENSING.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro must renew bienniel maintenance on its Microsoft network licensing and purchase new network licensing for new computers.

 

WHEREAS, it is unfeasable to perform the formal, sealed bidding process due to personnel shortages in the finance department.

 

WHEREAS, informal written quotes were taken by the Director of Information Systems.

 

THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, that:

 

SECTION ONE:  Said products can be purchased from PC Mall, the low bidder, for the sum of $34,191.40, to be paid from the Information Systems department’s Software and Maintenance Contracts line items.

 

SECTION TWO:  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A.  Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 1 above.

 

SECTION THREE:  It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this licensing before the current contract expires on July 30, 2007 for the operational continuity of the City of Jonesboro, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of July, 2007.
