A RESOLUTION TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR THE FY2017 BROWNFIELDS ASSESSMENT GRANT THROUGH THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY

WHEREAS, applications are now accepted for the FY2017 Brownfields Assessment Grant; and
WHEREAS, the FY2017 Brownfields Assessment Grant is funded at 100% by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for a duration of 24 months period; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is seeking funds up to $300,000 for assessments to be performed on the UP Railroad Roundhouse, Scrap Metal Yard and the Old Wolverine Shoe Plant sites that runs along the Jonesboro Railroad Corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the FY2017 application to the Brownfields Assessment Program for performing Phase 1 and 2 assessments of the specified sites as aforementioned above.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all necessary documentation to complete this application process.
SECTION 3: The Grants Administrator is hereby authorized to submit the FY2017 Brownfields Assessment Grant to Environmental Protection Agency via grants.gov.
