BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: That Section 24-37 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby amended as follows:

The board of zoning adjustment shall be composed of at least five members. The members of the board of zoning adjustment shall be nominated by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The members shall each be appointed for a term of three years, commencing with the anniversary date of said appointment, provided that the members first appointed on the enactment of this Ordinance; two members shall be appointed initially for the term of one year; two members shall be appointed initially for a term of two years, one member shall be appointed initially for a term of three years. When the term of any such member shall expire or when a vacancy shall otherwise occur, the Mayor shall make a nomination to fill such vacancy. The board of zoning adjustment shall adopt rules necessary to the conduct of its affairs and in keeping with the provisions of this chapter. Regular meeting dates shall be established and all meetings shall be held at the call of the chairman. All meetings of the board shall be open to the public with public notice of said meeting and business to be carried on published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Jonesboro at least one time seven (7) days prior to the meeting. The board shall keep a public record of all findings and decisions. The concurring vote of a majority of members of the board shall be necessary to reverse any decision of the zoning officer or to decide in favor of the applicant on any matter upon which it is required to pass under this chapter.
