BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Police Department is in need of an additional computer terminal to be used in the Radio Room; and,

 

WHEREAS, the current programs and equipment were purchased from and written by a local vendor, Continental Computer Corp.; and

 

WHEREAS, Continental Computer Corp. has agreed to sell the City of Jonesboro an ITT XP Computer with a 30 meg hard drive as was bid in bid #87:11 for the amount of $2,785.00 plus sales tax to be paid from the Training Fund; and,

 

WHEREAS, Continental Computer Corp, has agreed in writing to make several program changes in the current software programs to accommodate an additional terminal in the radio room at no additional charge.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

 

Section 1: Section 1-3.3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas should be waived to permit the City Purchasing Agent to purchase said ITT XP Terminal without formal bidding procedures.

 

Section 2: Due to the present need for a terminal to be located in the Radio Room an emergency is therefore declared and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
