RESOLUTION TO CONTRACT WITH THE AMERICAN RED CROSS TO DESIGNATE EMERGENCY SHELTERS

WHEREAS, The American Red Cross has been chartered by the United States Congress to carry on a system of national and international relief in time of peace and apply the same in mitigating the sufferings caused by pestilence, famine, fire, floods, and other great national calamities, and to devise and carry on measures for preventing the same.
WHEREAS, The American Red Cross needs facilities in Craighead County to provide shelters for relief during such calamities.
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is the owner of certain public amenities known as the Parker Park Community Center located at 1522 N. Church, The Earl Bell Community Center located at 1212 S. Church Street, the Allen Park Community Center located at 3609 Race St and the E. Boone Watson Community Center located at 1005 Logan Ave.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro shall enter into a contract with the Red Cross designating the Parker Park Community Center, The Earl Bell Community Center, The Allen Park Community Center and The E. Boone Watson Community Center American Red Cross emergency shelters.
SECTION 2: The Mayor, Hubert Brodell and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
