AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF RADIO EQUIPMENT

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION 1: That the Police Department of the City of Jonesboro needs to purchase the following: 3) 35 watt Motorola Spectra mobile radios, 2 Portable radios with mics and chargers.

 

SECTION 2: That said panels can be purchased from Motorola Inc. (an only source) for the sum of $16, 528. 67, sales tax included.

 

SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above. 

 

SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval. 

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of February, 1996.
