AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CHANGE IN ZONING BOUNDARIES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 954 known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro be amended by the change in zoning district boundaries as follows:

 

From Residential (R-1) to Commercial (C-3) LU  for development as an Elks Club (specifically indoor and outdoor recreation, conference and meeting facilities, and eating facilities) of  property described as follows:  A part of the South Half of the Southeast Quarter of Section 14, Township 14 North, Range 3 East, being more particularly described as follows:  Begin at the South Quarter corner of the Southeast Quarter of aforesaid Section 14; thence North 00°04’40” West on the forty acre line 605.00 feet; thence South 88°18’00” West 214.00 feet to the point of beginning proper; thence South  88°18’00” West 500.00 feet; thence North 00°04’40” West 280.28 feet to the south right of way of Washington Avenue; thence North 88°56’23” East along said right of way 500.00 feet; thence South 00°03’04” East 274.70 feet to the point of beginning proper containing3.18 acres, more or less, and being subject to a power line and easement as shown herein.

 

SECTION 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that proper use of the tract of land described in this Ordinance is being delayed because of improper zoning and that, therefore, an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
