A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO ARKANSAS GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE FY23 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS (AFG) GRANT PROGRAM FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA)

WHEREAS, FEMA has funding available for direct assistance to fire departments to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Vehicles, and to strengthen health, wellness, and fitness programs and provide preventative health screenings; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro Fire Department has eligible needs that can be addressed with funding from this grant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is requesting up to $150,000 of grant funding; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is required to provide 10% matching funds, not to exceed $15,000, for this grant
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the FY23 AFG application for the purpose of meeting the physical and mental health needs of the Jonesboro Fire Department.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the application.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the above stated project.
