RESOLUTION TO PURSUE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A STREET IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

WHEREAS, the appointed Committee to study the need improvements to the streets and road contained within the Southview Acre subdivision has submitted its findings and determinations to the City Council recommending that the City Council pass an ordinance establishing a Street Improvement District for the purpose of providing appropriate funding for the improvements of said road. A copy of the findings and determinations are attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, it is the findings and determinations of the Committee that the designated area is an important traffic artery to the City of Jonesboro and that said road needs improvement for the benefit of the surrounding landowners and the public at large; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the needed improvements and funding costs should be assessed against the landowners within the proposed improvement district and the said landowners should be allowed to pay the amount of assessments as determined by the Board of Commissioner in one lump sum payment or in a manner established by law; and
WHEREAS, it is the conclusion of the committee that it is in the best interest of the City of Jonesboro, upon filing the appropriate petitions with the City Clerk's office, that the City Clerk give notice of the hearing as required by law and that the City Council pass an ordinance establishing said Street Improvement District in a manner as allowed by the laws of the State of Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that upon the vote of the City Council that the findings and determinations of the Committee should be and are hereby adopted by the City of Jonesboro and that upon filing the appropriate petitions that the City Clerk shall give notice as required by law in order to pursue the establishment of a Street Improvement District for the designated area in accordance with A.C.A. 14-322-101, et seq., and other applicable laws of the Sta...
