RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 2 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR A PUBLIC LIBRARY TAX

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of amendment number thirty to the state of Arkansas Constitution, authorizing the qualified electors of cities have a population of not less than 3,000 to vote and levy a public library tax, a petition signed by more than 100 tax-paying electors of the City of Jonesboro was filed with the City Clerk asking that an annual tax on all real and personal property within the City, specifying a rate of taxation of 2 mills on the dollar. 

 

WHEREUPON, said City Clerk certified to the Board of Elections thirty (30) days prior to the General Election as required by law and that said petition was signed by more than 100 Taxpayers.

 

WHEREAS, said Board of Election Commissioners placed the question on the ballot.  A majority of the qualified voters voted for the levy and the Mayor proclaimed it adopted as law.

 

Pursuant to the millage rollback computation - Arkansas Statue 84-493.2; Section 3, Act 848, the taxation will be as follows:

 

On all real property the taxes are at the rate of 2 mills on the dollar and on all personal property, excepting household goods, the rate is 2 mills on the dollar.
