A RESOLUTION SETTING THE COST OF PURCHASING A CEMETERY LOT OWNED BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

body

WHEREAS, a need has arisen to define and set the purchase price for purchasing a cemetery lot owned by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas and because the residents living within the city limits of the City of Jonesboro already contribute funds to the upkeep and maintenance of city owned property through taxes, license and other contributions to the City’s general funds, there exists a need to more evenly distribute the cost, maintenance and upkeep of cemeteries fairly between the two classes;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1: the cost of purchasing one standard cemetery lot in a city owned cemetery within the city limits of Jonesboro, Arkansas shall be:

(A)  Three hundred dollars ($300.00) for residents living within the city limits of Jonesboro; and

(B)  Four hundred dollars ($400.00) for non-residents of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas

SECTION 2: It is further found that due to the immediate need to fairly apportion cost among residents and non-residents, an emergency is declared to exist and this resolution being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

PASSED and ADOPTED this 3rd day of September, 1991.
