AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8.44 DOWNTOWN PARKING CODE BY ADDING VIOLATION AND A METHOD FOR OBTAINING CONSTRUCTION PARKING PERMITS

WHEREAS: There is a need for additional violations and a permit for construction parking in order to control downtown parking, safely enhance the development downtown Jonesboro and control parking and safety of The Downtown Development District of the City of Jonesboro.

THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro Chapter 8.44 of the Downtown Parking Code shall be amended as follows:

Section 1: Code 8.44.18: by inserting a Sec. N(Left Door to Curb) as follows: Every person in violation of parking regulations of the City of Jonesboro concerning a vehicle parked with the left door to the curb, on two-way streets, shall be punished by a fine of not more than Fifty ($50) dollars.

Section 2: Code 8.44.18: by inserting a Sec. (O) as follows: Every person in violation of parking regulations of the City of Jonesboro concerning a vehicle parked in a fire lane on any street, avenue or alley or within a radius or distance of fifteen (15) feet of any fire hydrant within the corporate limits of the city, shall be punished by a fine of not more than fifty ($50) dollars.

Section 3: The following Codes shall be included:

8.44.21: Parked left Door to Curb. No person shall park a vehicle with the left door to the curb on two-way streets

8.44.22: Construction Parking Permits. Individuals and Companies involved in construction and renovation of buildings and properties in the Jonesboro Downtown Improvement District may obtain a temporary parking permit to park their construction vehicles in two-hour parking long enough to conduct the business of that construction and renovation.

A. Permits shall be obtained from the Jonesboro Police Parking Enforcement Office at the Police Department and shall be valid for 10 days and be vehicle specific.
