WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to obtain personal services for working on traffic signal problems when signal personnel are out of town for training or for other times as deemed necessary by the Street Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas L. Lloyd, Jr. possesses the ability to provide such services and is in the business of providing such services, and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is desirous of obtaining such services from an independent contractor, and
WHEREAS, funding for the contract is provided in the 2006 budget, Street Department professional services line item.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
1.      The Mayor of the City of Jonesboro is authorized to execute a contract with Mr. Thomas L. Lloyd, Jr. as an independent contractor for services for working on traffic signals problems when signal personnel are out of town for training or for other times as deemed necessary by the Street Superintendent.
2.      The term of the contract shall be for a period up to twelve (12) months, as services may be required, commencing on February 21, 2006.
3.      That payment shall be made to Mr. Lloyd in the amount of Thirty-Five Dollars per hour ($35.00/hr) for each hour worked.
4.      That Mr. Lloyd shall be furnished with a mobile phone and vehicle during times when services are needed.
5.      Either party may withdraw from the contract at any time, for any reason.
6.      This resolution shall take effect immediately.
