AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGES IN ZONING BOUNDARIES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 954 known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, be amended as recommended by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission by the changes in zoning classifications as follows:

 

From Residential (R-2) to Commercial (C-4) the following described Property: (RZ/90-3) (Corner of Johnson and Melrose, Paul Strecker / Mooney)

 

A part of Lots 105, 106, 109 and 110 and all Lots 107 and 108 of College Place Sub-division, Jonesboro, Arkansas, and being more particularly described as follows: Begin at the Northwest corner of Lot 98 of aforesaid College Place Subdivision; thence South on  the  East  right-of-way  line of  Melrose  Street 405.33 feet to the point of beginning proper; thence North 80 degrees 28 minutes 20 seconds East 223.07 feet to the West line of a public alley; thence South along said alley line 210.00 feet to the North right-of-way of U.S. Highway No. 49B; thence southwesterly along a 2 degree 2 minutes right-of-way curve right (Chord South 80 degrees 28 minutes 20 seconds West 223.07 feet) a distance of 223.13 feet to the East line of Melrose Street; thence North along said right-of-way line 210.00 feet to the point of beginning proper, containing 1.07 acres, more or less, subject to all rights-of-way and easements of record.

 

SECTION 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that the proper use of the tracts of land described above in this ordinance being delayed because of improper zoning, and that, therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
