AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 13-10 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, THE SAME BEING A SCHEDULE OF LICENSE TAXES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby amended by adding a sub-section to the schedule of license taxes contained in Section 13-10 which shall read as follows: Precious Metal Dealers, $100.00 per day of $300.00 per year at the option of the purchaser. This sub-section shall not apply if the person, firm or corporation pays a privilege license tax under another classification set out in Section 13-10 of the Code of Ordinances, provided the tax is paid for the privilege of conducting a business, occupation or a profession which routinely or customarily engages in the buying and/or selling of precious metals.

 

Section 2: All ordinances and/or ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

 

Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that due to the increased value of certain precious metals that more and more person, firms and corporations are engaged in this occupation and this occupation is not provided for in our present schedule of license taxes and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
