AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT COMMISSION, PROVIDE FOR ITS COMPOSITION AND TO VEST SUCH COMMISSION WITH AUTHORITY TO CONTROL AND OPERATE THE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: The Municipal Airport shall be controlled and operated by the Municipal Airport Commission.

 

Section 2: The Board of Directors of the City Water and Light Plant of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas are hereby designated to serve as the Municipal Airport Commission.

 

Section 3: The Commission shall have the authority to manage and determine any and all matters pertaining to the Municipal Airport, its construction, maintenance and operation for and on behalf of the City of Jonesboro, expecting only those powers vested in the City Council by the provisions of Section 3-28 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro.

 

Section 4: All ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 5: IT IS FOUND AND DETERMINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that immediate plans of improvement for the Municipal Airport have necessitated the establishment of authority by ordinance rather than by resolution and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
