RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO GRANTS DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE 2012 RECREATIONAL TRAILS GRANT FROM THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT.

Whereas, the 2012 Recreational Trails Grant is a grant with no amount limit that will be utilized to construct a 3.2 mile, ADA-compliant walking path on the outside of the road that runs through the Craighead Forest Park; and
Whereas, the grant is 80% federally funded and 20% local match; and
Whereas, the local match will be provided through cash donations and in-kind donations of services, materials, and labor from the local business community;
Therefore, be it resolved by City Council of the City of Jonesboro that:
Section1: The City of Jonesboro Grants Department will apply for the 2012 Recreational Trails Grant for the estimated cost of the walking path of $150,000 where the 20% local match will be funded by cash and in-kind donations from the local business community; and
Section 2: If the City of Jonesboro is awarded said grant, the Grants Department will return to Council for approval of said grant agreement.
