Title

A RESOLUTION TO CONTRACT WITH INNOVATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES INC. TO PRUNE AND REMOVE TREES ON CITY PROPERTY DAMAGED DURING THE JANUARY 26TH ICE STORM

 

Body

WHEREAS, the trees on City of Jonesboro property received significant ice damage on January 26th and 27th, 2009; and

WHEREAS, the storm damaged trees remain a hazard to the public; and

WHEREAS, the USDA sent in a strike team of arborists to perform an inventory of storm-damaged trees in parks and around public facilities; and

WHEREAS, proper pruning of these trees is required to prevent injury, damage, disease and decay; and

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro bid the project and Innovative Environmental Services Inc. was the low bidder meeting specifications at $96,798.00; and

WHEREAS, the project is eligible for reimbursement by FEMA;

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

Section 1:  The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas shall contract with Innovative Environmental Services for $96,798.00 to prune and remove deciduous and evergreen trees on public property as described in the contract.

Section 2:  The Mayor, Harold Perrin and the City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by City Council of the City of Jonesboro to execute any documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
