RESOLUTION TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO ABANDON STREETS BETWEEN JOHNSON AVE. AND WORD ST. AND TO ABANDON ALLEYS IN BARRETTS ADDITION AS REQUESTED BY ARKANSAS GLASS CONTAINER CORPORATION AND CITY WATER AND LIGHT

WHEREAS, property owners have filed a Petition with the City Clerk of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, requesting that 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Streets between Johnson Avenue and Word Street and the alleys running North and South and/or East and West in Blocks 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Barritts (Barretts) Addition to the City of Jonesboro be closed and abandoned.
WHEREAS, the Petition has been presented to the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and,
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated 14-301-301-306 and 14-54-104 require that the City Council determine whether, from the standpoint of public interest and welfare, that the streets and alleys should be vacated as proposed;
WHEREAS, the owners of all the lots abutting on the Streets and Alleys to be vacated have consented to said closing; and,
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated 14-301-301-306 requires the City of Jonesboro to fix a day for the hearing of the petition to close and abandon streets and the alleys in this manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Clerk is authorized to publish notice of the meeting to hear said petition, once a week for two (2) consecutive weeks, and the date set for said hearing is the 2nd day of May, 1988, at 7:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall of the City of Jonesboro.
