AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT ON BELT STREET FROM DRAKE STREET TO CHURCH STREET; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES:

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of the Ordinance the maximum speed limit on Belt Street from Drake Street to Church Street shall be 20 mph.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described street at the proper places, appropriate signs reading “20 mph” and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to tear down, or mutilate such signs.

 

Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $50.00.

 

Section 4: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council that the increasing amount of traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices have caused danger to life and property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effects from and after its passage and adoption.
