ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1930 TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCREASE IN PARKING VIOLATION FINES IF THE FINE IS SEVEN DAYS UNPAID

BE IT ENACTED by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas,

WHEREAS, there presently exists a need to ensure prompt compliance with the terms of Ordinance #1930, otherwise known as the Downtown Parking Ordinance, and

WHEREAS, the prompt compliance and payment of fines requires that a fine be implemented for failure to pay parking violation fines in a timely manner;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: Section 17 of Ordinance #1930 is herewith amended to provide that the initial fine of $2.00 for parking violations be increased to $5.00 where the party cited for a violation of this ordinance shall fail to pay the said $2.00 fine within seven (7) days of the date of issuance of the citation.
