A RESOLUTION WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF THREE GFI GENFARE SYSTEM UNITS FOR JETS

Body

WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Jonesboro Economical Transportation System has a need for three GFI Genfare System units to be installed on the JETS buses;

WHEREAS, the Community Transportation Advisory Board has approved this purchase.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

Section 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase three GFI Genfare System units for the Transportation Department to be used by a City vehicle to meet operational needs for fare collection.

Section 2: Said equipment may be purchased from GFI Genfare, which integrates completely with the system that is currently in operation, for the sum of $38,048.00, which includes applicable sales tax and freight, to be paid from the Fixed Asset Fund, Transit line item.  This is the same company that the original contract for fare collection systems was awarded to. 

Section 3: The City Council in accord with the terms of Ark Code Ann. § 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section Two above.
