Title

AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF AVL UNITS AND VIEWING STATIONS FOR THE POLICE, ANIMAL CONTROL, AND CODE ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENTS.

Body

BE IT ORDANINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION ONE: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase 29 AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locators) for new Police Patrol vehicles, 13 AVL modems and 2 viewing stations for Animal Control and Code Enforcement.

 

SECTION TWO: That said equipment may be purchased from Relativity Inc, an only source, for the sum of $77,281.28, tax and freight included, to be paid for from the Police Departments Fixed Asset fund, line item 15-100-422-00, and Information Systems Fixed Asset Fund 15-100-428-00 and Information Systems Software line item 01-110-296-00.

 

SECTION THREE:  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.

 

SECTION FOUR: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire this equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
