Public Works Committee Minutes

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

 6:15 p.m.

Members Present: Moore, Ashley, Street, Province, Dover, and Farmer. 

The purpose of the special called meeting was to consider placement of an ordinance on the agenda for the July 19^th meeting.  The ordinance waived competitive bidding and authorized repairs on a Kobelco SK250LC Excavator for the Street Department.  Committee members questioned the cost of a new excavator compared to the useful life of the used piece of equipment. Mr. Hooton, Street Superintendent explained a new excavator would cost $180,000 and believed once repaired the equipment would last another four to five years.  Councilman Farmer moved, seconded by Councilman Moore to place the ordinance on the agenda for consideration by the full council.  All voted aye.

With no further business, Councilman Moore moved, seconded by Councilman Ashley to adjourn.  All voted aye.
