RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE ALL PEOPLE TO WRITE LETTERS, SEND CARE PACKAGES AND WEAR AND DISPLAY YELLOW RIBBONS TO SHOW SUPPORT OF AMERICAN TROOPS

WHEREAS, wearing or displaying a yellow ribbon has long symbolized caring for a loved one far away, and
WHEREAS, hundreds of young men and women from Jonesboro and surrounding areas are currently serving far away as soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coast guardsmen on active duty, and in the guard and reserves, and
WHEREAS, our police, firemen and other emergency service personnel and all citizens of Jonesboro and this area are seeking visible ways to show that “We Support Our Troops”, now therefore be it
RESOLVED that the Jonesboro City Council encourages all people to write letters, send care packages and wear and display a yellow ribbon to show that you support our troops.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of April, 2003.
