AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT OF PUBLICATION COSTS TO THE CITY CLERK’S OFFICE INCURRED IN PUBLISHING ORDINANCES PERTAINING TO ANNEXATIONS, REZONINGS, BOND ISSUES AND OTHER MATTERS TO WHICH THE CITY OF JONESBORO IS NOT A PARTY

Section 1: All persons requesting ordinances concerning annexations, rezoning, bond issues and other matters to which the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is not a party, shall be required to pay all publication expenses incurred by the City Clerk’s office in publishing the requested ordinances.

 

Section 2: The City Clerk shall upon receipt of statement of publication fees, send a statement to the person responsible for incurring the publication costs involved in publishing the ordinance requested by that person.

 

Section 3: All publication statements to the person responsible for incurring the publication costs involved in publishing the ordinance requested by that person.

 

Section 4: Every person failing to pay publication statements when due and payable shall be subject to civil suit and payment of attorney fees, if the City of Jonesboro is the successful party.

 

Section 5: It is fund and declared by the City Council that the City of Jonesboro is financially burdened by the cost of legal publications; therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 16th day of May, 1977.
