CITY COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 4, 1979

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Tuesday, September 4, 1979, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named aldermen: Park, Sanderson, Hinson, Shelton, Bridger, Hannah, Haigler, Stricklin, Province, Mays and Haggenmacher. Mr. Minx was absent.

Mr. Park moved that the minutes of August 20, 1979, be approved as mailed, seconded by Mr. Hinson. All voted aye.

On motion by Mr. Stricklin, seconded by Mr. Park and unanimous vote of council, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance pertaining to traffic control in the Scenic Hills Subdivision.

Mr. Hinson offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Stricklin moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on second reading, seconded by Mr. Hannah. All voted aye. Mr. Sanderson then moved for further suspension of the rules and the ordinance was placed on third and final reading after the motion was seconded by Mr. Park. All council voted aye. Mr. Sanderson moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Park. All voted aye and the ordinance, was assigned #1696.

Mr. Stricklin offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 9-1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, THE SAME DEALING WITH THE ADOPTION OF THE STANDARD FIRE PREVENTION CODE

Mr. Stricklin moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on second reading, seconded by Mr. Park. All voted aye. Mr. Stricklin then moved that the rules be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on third reading, seconded by Mr. Park. All voted aye. Mr. Stricklin then moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Park. All voted aye. The ordinance was given #1697.
