AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 13-1 WHICH PROVIDES FOR A PRIVILEGE TAX AND LICENSE TO DO BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, to-wit:
Section 1: That Section 13-1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is herby amended to read as follows:
It shall be unlawful for any person who lives in or lives outside of the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas and/or who has a business, occupation, vocation, profession, trade or calling in or outside of the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and who engage in, carry on or conduct said business, occupation, vocation, profession, trade or calling within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for which a license is required by this chapter without having first paid the privilege tax and procured a license therefore from the City Collector. This Ordinance shall not apply to those persons who have paid current privilege tax from some other city in the State of Arkansas, unless such person (s) maintains a place of business in the City of Jonesboro.
Section 2: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3: Should any portion of this ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid by a Court of competent jurisdiction, then the remainder of this ordinance should not be affected by such partial invalidity.
Section 4: It is found and declared by the City Council that this ordinance being necessary for the regulation of all business, trades, professions, occupations or callings who engage or carry on business, trades, professions, occupations or callings who engage or carry on business within the City of Jonesboro, and that this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance should take effect from and after...
