AN ORDINANCE FOR THE CONTINUED AUTHORIZATION OF FUNDING UNDER THE 2007 BUDGET EXCLUDING FIXED ASSETS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

Section 1.   A.C.A. 14-58-201 requires on or before December 1, the mayor of all cities to submit to the governing body a proposed budget for operation of the city from January 1, to December 31 for the forthcoming year.

 

Section 2. A.C.A. 14-58-202 requires the governing body of the municipality to adopt a budget of operation of the city by February 1, of each year.

 

Section 3. On December 18th, 2007, the Jonesboro City Council adopted Resolution No. R-EN-151-2007 requesting specific information to assist the Jonesboro City Council in addressing Mayor Forman’s proposed budget.

 

Section 4.  On December 20th, 2007 the Finance Committee voted to have a continuance resolution drafted for the purpose of authorizing continued funding under the 2007 budget, excluding fixed assets and capital improvements.

 

Section 5.  Due to the need to continue funding past December 31, 2007, and to provide authorization for the daily operations of the city;

 

BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that the 2007 budget shall continue, excluding Fixed Assets and Capital Improvements, until February 1, 2008.

 

Section 6.  This ordinance being necessary for the financial continuity of the City of Jonesboro, there is hereby declared to be an emergency and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
