Title
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 30-24, EXCEPTIONS FOR LARGE TRACTS OF LAND, FOR THE CUTTING OF GRASS, WEEDS, BRUSH, VINES, ETC., WITHIN THE  CODE THAT FORMERLY ALLOWED SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR LARGER TRACTS OF LAND AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FOR THE REDUCTION OF PUBLIC NUISANCES AND THE PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro realizes large tracts of land exist within the commercial and neighborhood core areas of the City, which are not being maintained from a quality of life perspective, and have shown to foster the harboring and breeding of mosquitoes due to lack of yard maintenance.
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT: Code Section 30-24 be amended as follows:
 
SECTION (1):      Large Tracts of Land located in areas zoned C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4 and CR-1 shall not be exempt from maintenance and compliance of Section 30-31, Minimum requirements for weeds, vines, grass or low-hanging limbs.
 
SECTION (2):      If the tract of land is shown to be a danger to the public peace, health and safety, the entire tract will be cut and such grass, weeds, brush, vines, etc. shall be cut below the 12 inches specified.
 
SECTION (3):  It is further found that due to the immediate need to provide clarity to the existing ordinances, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and the reduction in public nuisances shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
