CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, SEPTEMBER 21, 1981

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, September 21, 1981, at 7:30 p.m. Present, Mayor, City Clerk, Attorney Don Mixon and the following named aldermen: Park, Stricklin, Hinson, Minx, Hannah, Johnson, Sanderson, Province Mays, and Haggenmacher. Absent: Bridger.

The minutes of September 8, 1981, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Park, seconded by Mr. Hinson.

Mr. Shelton offered the following resolution after Mr. Charlie Crow had explained same to council:

RESOLUTION FOR FINANCING OF MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING FACILITIES

Mr. Park moved for the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Mr. Shelton. Voting aye: Park, Stricklin, Shelton, Hinson, Minx, Johnson, Province, Mays and Haggenmacher. Voting nay: Hannah and Sanderson. The resolution was given the number 1981:15.

Mr. Minx offered the following resolution:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO AUTHORIZING THE ENTRY INTO AN AGREEMENT TO ISSUE BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SECURING AND DEVELOPING INDUSTRY WITHIN OR NEAR THE CITY

Mr. Park moved for the adoption of the resolution, seconded by Mr. Shelton. Voting aye: Park, Stricklin, Shelton, Hinson, Minx, Johnson, Province, Mays and Haggenmacher. Voting nay: Hannah and Sanderson. The resolution was given the number 1981:14.

Mr. Bill Etter was advised by Mayor Stallings that the next item of business concerned his request to be on the agenda and Mayor inquired of Mr. Etter if he was representing the union. Mr. Etter replied that he was. Mayor informed council that he would recommend that Mr. Etter not be heard. Mr. Haggenmacher then moved that Mr. Etter be heard and the motion was second by Mr. Hinson. Answering roll call voting aye: Hinson, Province, Haggenmacher. Voting nay: Park, Stricklin, Shelton, Minx, Hannah, Johnson, Sanderson and Mays. Motion failed.
