A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO SENATOR PAUL BOOKOUT AND REPRESENTATIVE CHRIS THYER

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro requested an extension from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to further investigate the extent of the methane gas migration around its Class IV landfill and to investigate less expensive alternatives to remedying this problem thereby saving taxpayer dollars while improving public safety;

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro request was originally denied by this department;

 

THEREFORE NOW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro wishes to express its appreciation to Senator Paul Bookout and Representative Chris Thyer for their assistance in coordinating a meeting with and securing an extension from ADEQ thereby saving the citizens of Jonesboro possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars while ensuring that the extent of the gas migration is determined for the public’s safety.
