CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, DECEMBER 15, 1980

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, December 15, 1980, at 7:30 p.m. Present, Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and all aldermen.

The minutes of December 1, 1980, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Hinson, seconded by Mr. Stricklin.

The following bids were reviewed for police department uniform cleaning:

Mr. Mays moved that the low bid from Massanelli be approved, seconded by Mr. Shelton, all aye.

Mr. Hannah, Chairman of the Finance Committee, distributed the 1981 budget to members of council. Herb Davis explained portions of the budget and announced that a Public Hearing would be held on January 5, at 7:00 p.m. on revenue sharing.

Mr. Hannah offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 13-70 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, INCREASING THE LICENSE TAXES FOR ARKANSAS LOUISIANA GAS COMPANY AND THE TIME WHEN SAID TAXES WILL BE DUE

Ms. Haigler moved the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on second reading, seconded by Mr. Hannah, all aye. After the reading, Mr. Hannah moved the rules be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on 3rd reading, seconded by Mr. Minx, all aye. Mr. Hannah then moved for the adoption of the ordinance, duly seconded by Mr. Minx and the only nay vote was cast by Mr. Haggenmacher. The ordinance was given the number 1742.

Mr. Hannah offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE WHEREBY THE CITY OF JONESBORO OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS AND THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY, A MISSOURI CORPORATION, AGREE THAT THE TELEPHONE COMPANY SHALL CONTINUE TO OPERATE ITS TELEPHONE SYSTEM AND ALL BUSINESS INCIDENTAL TO OR CONNECTED WITH T...
