AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING TWO ALLEYS LOCATED BETWEEN BLOCKS E, F, G AND H OF SIGLER’S COLLEGE ADDITION TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, a petition was duly filed with the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas on the 1st day of August, 1977, asking the City Council to vacate and abandon two alleys designated on the plat of Sigler’s College Addition to said city now appearing of record in Plat Book 48, page 230 in the office of the Recorder of Craighead County, Arkansas.
WHEREAS, after due notices as required by law, the Council has, at the time and place mentioned in the notice, heard all persons desiring to be heard on the question and has ascertained that the alleys hereinbefore described have heretofore been dedicated to the public use as alleys herein described; has not been actually used by the public generally for a period of at least five years subsequent to the filing of the plat; that all the owners of the property abutting upon the alleys to be vacated have filed with the Council their written consent to such abandonment; and that public interest and welfare will not be adversely affected by the abandonment of such alleys.
NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas hereby releases, vacates and abandons all its rights, together with the rights of the public generally in and to the alleys designated as follows:
Beginning at the Southwest corner of Block E, Sigler’s College Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, thence East a distance of 617 feet, more or less to the Southeast corner of said Block E; thence South 10 feet to the Northeast corner of Block G of Sigler’s College Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; thence West 617 feet, more or less, to the Northwest corner of said Block G; thence North 10 feet to the point of beginning proper.
