AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A PIPE INSPECTION SYSTEM

Body

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1:  That the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase a pipe inspection system for the Street Department.

SECTION 2:  That said pipe inspection system may be purchased from Green Equipment Co., 217 Cedar Lane, Sand Springs, OK, the sole supplier for the type of pipe inspection system needed by the Street Department, for the sum of $63,387.07 plus freight and sales tax, to be paid from the Street Department Fixed Asset Account.

SECTION 3:  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described services for the price set forth in Section 2 above.

SECTION 4:  It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the pipe inspection system, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
