CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, JULY 7, 1980

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. Present, City Attorney, City Clerk, Park, Sanderson, Hinson, Shelton, Minx, Hannah, Haigler, Province, Mays, Haggenmacher. Absent, Mayor, Bridger, Stricklin.

The minutes of June 16, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Sanderson, seconded by Mr. Hinson and all council voting aye.

Elizabeth Stafford, President of League of Women Voters, presented to council and all officials, a recent publication of the League entitled “Citizens Guide of Jonesboro.” Vice Mayor Province expressed gratitude on behalf of the City for the efforts exemplified in the publication.

The following bids were reviewed for vehicle insurance:

Mr. Shelton moved that the low bid from General Ins. Be accepted, plus the option of insuring non-owned vehicles. Motion seconded by Mr. Hinson, all aye.

The following bids were reviewed for a mosquito fogger:

Public Health Holiman Equipment

Model H $3,195.00 $4,192.00
Model XK 3,695.00

Mr. Minx moved that the City purchase the Model XK providing the company will demonstrate the machine in Jonesboro, Motion seconded by Mr. Park, all aye.

Permission was granted for placing a mobile home at 1001 Creath, on motion by Mr. Hinson, seconded by Mr. Hannah and the only nay vote cast by Mr. Minx.

The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:

AN ORDINANCE TO CONDEMN A HOUSE LOCATED AT 519 EAST GATE, JONESBORO, ARKANSAS: TO IMPOSE A LEIN UPON SAID PROPERTY AND TO REMOVE SUCH STRUCTURE FROM SAID PROPERTY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
