Public Services Committee Minutes
Monday, February 3, 2003
12:00 noon - Huntington Bldg.
Members present: Young, Hargis, Province, McCall and Roddy
Alderman McCall asked for motion to approve the minutes from the 1-20-03 meeting. Alderman Province moved, with second from Alderman Roddy. All members voted aye.
Alderman Young asked Jim McKinnon to discuss the resolution for grant funds for park improvements. McKinnon discussed the matching grant to assist renovation of playground areas in Craighead Forest Park. Jason Wilkie asked the committee to look at prioritizing items for the grant. Wilkie proposed: (Fencing Allen Park - $15,000), (Skate Park - $150,000), (Playground equipment for Joe Mack Camp. Park - $35,000).

Wilkie indicated that he felt a skate park at Allen would be used and there were other features about this site that will allow more opportunities.
Alderman Roddy moved to use the funds as requested per the resolution presented. Alderman Province seconded the motion and all voted in favor.
Wilkie Discussed the User Agreement for Joe Mack Campbell Park as well as Fees associated with the Park and the new rock climbing wall at Earl Bell. Alderman Young requested that each member review information and be prepared to meet in a week or so to discuss the matters. Young indicated the fees Wilkie proposed seemed appropriate and this is not something the full Council needs to approve.
Alderman Hargis discussed a safety issue regarding the spillway at Craighead Forest Park. Mr. Ted Pylant sent each member information detailing an accident he had on the area in question. Pylant indicated in his letter that he suggested some solutions to the p...
